Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience, the Violin Courses here at London String School cater to all levels. We have helped hundreds of learners to achieve their musical goals, and would love to do the same for you!
Here are some of the questions we often hear from adult learners in London about learning to play the violin:
What are the benefits of learning to play the violin as an adult?
Learning to play the violin enhances cognitive abilities, improves memory and concentration, and boosts creativity.
Playing the violin also provides a great opportunity for self-expression and stress relief. It's never too late to pursue your passion for music!
What makes London String School's Violin Courses the perfect choice for adult learners?
Our comprehensive curriculum has been developed over many years, specifically with adult learners in mind. We're passionate about providing the smoothest possible learning experience for you, and therefore we focus relentlessly on perfecting a smooth 'gradient' as you move from level to level with ease.
Our programs originated from research at the Royal Academy of Music, and the curriculum is now updated and refreshed on a regular basis, so we're always at the forefront of new thinking and the latest innovations.
Our experienced friendly instructors are not only passionate about providing truly high quality tuition, but also about making sure the learning experience is fun and enjoyable. After all, if you're motivated and happy, you're going to learn better!
All of our tutors have performed and taught professionally at a high level, so they know exactly how to guide you through the fundamentals of violin playing, ensuring a solid foundation. But they're also really nice people who want you to have a good time!
Scheduling is also easy at London String School. We offer both midweek and weekend options at our centrally located school in London, and if you need to miss a week due to work commitments or travel, we will send you the course material for that week, so you never fall behind.
During our courses, we are always available to provide support and accountability for your learning, and we make it easy for you to fit learning the violin into your busy schedule.
What if I already have some experience playing the violin?
If you already have some experience playing the violin, our Intermediate and Advanced courses are perfect for you. These courses are tailored to help you refine your technique, expand your repertoire, and take your skills to the next level.
The course grading follows an alphabetical sequence - Beginner Course A is followed by Course B, then Course C, and so on.
If you're not sure of your current level, then just get in touch with us via email, livechat or phone - we can usually identify your current level with a couple of questions!
Alternatively, just book onto a Fundamentals class to revise the core techniques - by the end of the class, your tutor will be able to advise you of your current level, and therefore which course is right for you to start with.
What if I'm not sure yet whether the violin is the right instrument for me?
If you're not yet fully committed to learning the violin but want to give it a try, our Introductory 'Fundamentals' class is the ideal option ... you don't need to read music, and we can even provide a violin!
This class, which we run several times a month, allows you to dip in to the world of violin playing and get a taste of what our courses offer.
It's a low-pressure environment where you can explore your interest and make an informed decision about pursuing further violin studies.
We have violins available in the studio for these sessions, and then if you decide that you would like to continue with one of our 10-week courses then we can also advise you on how to rent or buy an instrument.
Because all the introductory sessions are taught by ear, there's no music notation to use, so you don't need to read music! (And if you don't already read music, then we'll show you how to do that during Course A!).
